How To Keep Your Diet On Track!

I’ll spare you the grim statistics on America’s obesity epidemic. We should realize by now, many of us are overweight. The saddest fact is that many of us are getting “fatter” each year.

I understand many people suffer through “yo-yo” dieting, losing weight and then gaining it back. Which leads to frustration, and does nothing to improve their health.

I found a interesting video, of Ann Curry interviewing Dr. Oz. Although the video was meant to cover how to keep your New Years resolution to lose weight, I believe the tips provided are good year round.

This video is provided courtesy of msnbc.com and the Mother Nature Network.

Now, this is great information for you to follow.  As a well known shoe company says…”Just do it”.

The Bottom Line:  You are the master of your health and future.  You don’t have do everything to be healthier, you just need to do something NOW!  It took me 8 years to go from weighing 240 pounds, to my current weight of 185.  Was it easy…NO!  But, I kept at it and I’m glad I did.  I suggest you put Dr. Oz’s tips to use immediately.  It’s all up to you.

It’s your life, live well.

Do You Know The Warning Signs Of A Heart Attack?

February is Heart Health Awareness month.  Did you know that heart disease is the number 1 killer of women in America?  I’ve address this issue in another post some time ago.

I found an interesting video, that provides great information regarding the warning signs of a heart attack.  This is important because you must take action quickly to get help.  What you do in the first 5 minutes, may save your life.

The video by Elizabeth Banks, and is provided courtesy of Mother Nature Network.

The best definition I’ve found describing  a heart attack, is from the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute:

“A heart attack occurs if the flow of oxygen-rich blood to a section of the heart muscle suddenly becomes blocked.  If blood flow isn’t restored quickly, the section of the heart muscle begins to die.”

Remember these warning signs:

  • Chest discomfort;
  • Discomfort in other areas of your upper body such as the arms,neck or jaw;
  • Shortness of breath;
  • Nausea;
  • Lightheadedness; and
  • Breaking out in a cold sweat.

For more information, go to the American Heart Association and GoRedForWomen.org websites.

The Bottom Line:  Why risk a heart attack, when prevention is within your own hands!  You know you need physical activity, and a better diet.  Do what you need to do NOW!  The life you save, could be your own.

It’s your life, live well.

Is Vitamin Water Good For You?

The beverage named “Vitamin Water”, certainly has a healthy appeal.  However,  you’ve probably heard the old saying about judging a book by it’s cover.  Sadly, Vitamin Water turns out to be nothing more than “sugar water” and it’s bad for your health.

Mike Adams, AKA “The Health Ranger”, has done an outstanding report on the Vitamin Water scam.  A 20 oz bottle of this beverage has about 32.5 grams of sugar.  Needless to say, the only thing this drink will do for you is increase your exposure to weight gain, obesity, and diabetes.

While the marketing slogans imply Vitamin Water is good for your health, you’re actually being misled.  Vitamin Water  in fact, contains only small amounts of cheap synthetic vitamins, which are of little benefit for improving your health.

Check out this interesting video, courtesy of NaturalNews TV and Food Investigations.com.  It shows how marketing has taken preference over what’s best for consumer wellness.

The Bottom Line:  I’m becoming more and more concerned about the companies seeking to benefit financially, by misleading you about the quality of their products.  If you’re already prediabetic and you drink Vitamin Water, the effects on your health could be very serious.  Read the product labels.  Protect yourself from implied “health benefits” by ignoring the marketing hype.  Research a product before you buy it.  The life you save… could very well be your own.

It’s your life, live well.

What Happened To The Blueberries?

When you see a food product clearly labeled as containing blueberries, it would be reasonable for you to assume that to be a true statement.  Well, I have some bad news for you…some food companies are deceiving you!

Mike Adams, AKA “The Health Ranger”, has done a fantastic report on food products claiming to have blueberries as an ingredient, when in fact they fail to have this great antioxidant.

Instead, artificial petrochemical-based food colors are being used to give the food products the appearance of having “blueberries”,when in fact this isn’t true.

Check out this wonderful video, courtesy of NaturalNews.TV and Food Investigations.com.  It’s a real eye opener on deceptive food labeling practices.  The information will help you avoid being duped into buying a food product that’s not be beneficial for you and your health.

Why can’t some food companies just be honest about their products?  Because your money is more important to them.  Your health and well-being are secondary.

The Bottom Line:  It never fails to amaze me how some food companies will go to such lengths to fool you.  When you’re trying to eat “healthier”, the last thing you need is to be deceived about the quality of a food product.

Protect yourself by reading the ingredient labels.  If you see food colors such as Blue No. 1, Blue No. 3,  Red No. 40 and Green No.3, usually found at the bottom of the label,  DON’T buy that product.  You deserve better.

It’s your life, live well.
